Beaches

Beaches

Visit the unspoilt Costa de la Luz beaches and the famous “pueblos blancos” local villages and towns. Spring arrives early and brings with it warm temperatures, making May a pleasant time to visit, as too is the early autumn and September. Inland, summer temperatures frequently exceed 30°C, whilst sea breezes temper the heat on the Costa de la Luz.

A swim and a walk on the beaches about an hour’s drive with a Chiringuito (beach hut) supper watching the sun disappear on the horizon over the sea. El Palmar is our favorite beach where surf shops, trendy bars and hippy boutiques line the mile-long sandy stretch. Good for surfing, body boarding and people watching. At the end of the day, sip a Mojito as the sun sets.

Bolonia Beach 1.15hrs drive is surrounded by pine forests and towering sand dunes, it is tranquil and unspoilt. Also here is Baelo Claudia- Roman ruins featuring an impressive forum, temple and basilica. Have lunch at Restaurant Otero just next door. A bit further on towards Tarifa, the Southern most point in Europe, is Tangana Beach where you can learn to kite surf if the winds are in your favour.
